- Garden Fellowship Program (César E. Chávez Community Action Center)
- The Campus Community Garden Fellowship program offers students an opportunity to dive into the topic of environmental justice through the lens of scholarship, intersectionality, and practicality. Throughout this program, students will learn and network with experts in the environmental justice movements. Additionally, students will receive hands-on experience on how to include environmental justice practices in their everyday lives through learning basic gardening and environmental justice skills at the Campus Community Garden. - The Leadership and Career Certificate Program (LCCP) is a unique opportunity that helps prepare students to be effective, inclusive, and successful leaders on campus and beyond. - National Society of Leadership and Success (Student Involvement)
- The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is the largest leadership honor society in the United States. The NSLS leadership program takes place each semester and teaches the interpersonal skills that employers seek to give you an edge in the job market. Members have access to more than $400,000 in scholarships, an exclusive NSLS job board, a personalized letter of recommendation, and more. This training experience also acts as a forum for student leaders to be able to interact with each other. This mentorship program aims to help new graduate students in their educational journey by being matched with an experienced graduate student to promote personal, career, social, and academic engagement. The mentorship relationship can be a mutually beneficial one with both students learning more about each other, our campus resources, and its academic and professional opportunities. This unpaid, volunteer initiative is supported by the Engineering Student Success Center via a Mentorship Team of ESSC advisors and includes an initial orientation for mentors as well as bi-monthly check-ins between advisors and mentors.

- Panetta Institute Congressional Internship Program (College of Social Sciences)

A scholarship for a fully-funded fall-semester internship in Washington is available to SJSU students through the Panetta Institute. Student leaders with a strong academic record and a commitment to public service may apply. Selected California students receive an intensive two-week training course on the workings of the U.S. Congress, then go to Washington, expenses paid, for 11 weeks of service to a California member of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Everett, Nancy, and Phyllis Ward Washington DC Internship is administered by the Political Science Department to create congressional internship opportunities for two students to spend six to eight weeks over summer in Washington, DC. - Veterans Embracing Transition Project (Center for Community Learning & Leadership)

The Veterans Embracing Transition (VET) works to assess and address the needs of military veterans at SJSU. Programs include the Warriors at Home class, an academic course focused on transitioning from military to civilian life, research opportunities, a small lending library in CL 203, and varied educational outreach events. VET Connect Peer Leaders receive stipends to serve the student veteran community and to educate others about the needs, strengths, and experiences of veteran and military students. - Peer Career Advisor (Career Center)
- Peer Career Advisors (PCA) help with the delivery of career services to students, alumni, staff, faculty and employers. Under the direct supervision of the PCA Lead, the PCA will assist in providing administrative, customer service, and outreach support in a busy office environment. PCAs are expected to exhibit the highest level of professionalism and leadership in their customer service. The positions will be posted on SJSU Handshake when available. - Peer Educator Position (Peer Connections)
- Join our growing team of peer educators to gain leadership skills, support other students, and work a flexible campus job. Every semester, Peer Connections accepts applications for Peer Educator positions, including the roles of Peer Mentor, Peer Tutor (classic and embedded), Supplemental Instruction leader, Learning Assistants, and Peer Advisors. Students receive training in their first semester, ongoing personal and professional development, and are part of a community of over 100 peer educators. - Outdoor Adventures and Climbing Wall Staff (Spartan Recreation)
- The Outdoor Adventures Staff and Climbing Wall Staff are responsible for ensuring the safety (physical and psychological) of all of our participants at the climbing wall and on our wilderness outings. Even if you're not interested in pursuing a career in the outdoor industry, all of our positions place a heavy emphasis on leadership and group dynamics that will translate into any workplace including: fostering an inclusive and welcoming community, facilitating challenging conversations, leading/teaching groups of student participants, and enforcing university policies. A Thousand Stars is a suicide awareness and prevention training, and a component of San José State University's Suicide Prevention and Resilience Network. This up-to-date and multiculturally-informed training on suicide awareness provides education and skills to SJSU student volunteers (who become “Stars”) in order to help provide fellow students and community members in distress with vital resources. - Mental Health First Aid for Youth (Counseling and Psychological Services)

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
