Kanak Somani is an Archaeologist who has worked on numerous projects in the Bay Area and internationally on the island of Nevis in the West Indies, and in Peru. Some of her experience includes prehistoric osteological excavation and laboratory analysis, including identifying demographics, and analyzing factors such as mortuary behavior, and material culture of the site. Kanak received her MA in Archaeological Studies in 2019 from Yale University. She has also conducted archaeological and ethnographic work in San Jose's Japantown. Prior to teaching at SJSU, Kanak worked as a professional Archaeologist in cultural resource management, throughout Northern and Central California.
