Mandatory Health Insurance for International Gateways Students
All programs at IG are held in-person. All F-1 students who will be attending IG programs on the SJSU campus are required to purchase the mandatory health insurance plan (offered at International Gateways) before their program start date. F-1 students must show proof of health insurance to attend classes.
The health insurance plan offered by IG, is a comprehensive low-cost insurance plan that includes coverage for illness and injury, medical evacuation and repatriation.
If you would like coverage during flight and travel time to the United States, we suggest purchasing travel insurance for the period of time before your JCB insurance coverage comes into effect.
Spouse/children insurance is NOT available on the IG sponsored plan. Search online to find insurance options, or you can find a few by checking IMG International Health & Travel Medical Insurance. Purchase coverage for your spouse and children online at your own risk. JCB and IG maintain no association with or responsibility for any Non-IG plans purchased and will not provide enrollment and/or support associated with any Non-IG plans.
