April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). While prevention efforts are ongoing year-round, we specifically devote the month of April to spotlighting the issues of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse.
The programs and events listed below offer opportunities to educate ourselves, support survivors, and connect our community to create change. Please consider using this Zoom background and sharing the following information with your networks.

For the month of April, the César E. Chávez Community Action Center is collaborating with Survivor Advocacy Services to organize a donation drive for the Santa Clara Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Items to donate:
- Sweatsuits (tops & bottoms - no logos)
- Leggings (no logos)
- Tunic Tops/T-shirts (no logos)
- Socks (size 5-13)
- Slides (preferred)/Flip Flops (size 5-13)
- Slip-on tennis shoes (size 5-13)
- Sports Bras
- Shampoo (travel size)
- Conditioner (travel size)
- Body wash (travel size)
- Lotion (travel size)
- Battery charging cords (iPhone, Android, etc.)

Sexual Assault Awareness Month Workshop Series
April 15th, 22nd, 29th | Student Wellness Center Room 375 | 2:00 pm
This three-part workshop is open to those who identify as a sexual assault survivor and/or sexual harassment survivor and want a safe and supportive environment to learn more about sexual violence, healing mechanisms and setting healthy boundaries. Event will be in-person and registration is mandatory in order to attend. Space is limited.

Our Ways of Healing - Centering the Wisdom of Asian American Women

Led by Dr. Grace Poon Ghaffari, Assistant Professor in Counselor Education, this workshop explores the healing power of Asian American women’s ways of knowing and being. Grounded in Dr. Poon Ghaffari's research on Asian American women’s epistemologies and their application to healing from sexual and relationship violence, this session offers a space for reflection, connection, and applied practice for healing from trauma, harm, and hurt. Although this workshop centers the wisdom and experiences of Asian American women, this workshop is open to all students, staff, and faculty. Safe Moves: Bystander Intervention & Community Safety on Public Transit

Denim Day: Pocket of Strength

Join us for a creative and meaningful event in honor of Denim Day, where we’ll decorate denim pockets to raise awareness about sexual violence prevention and support survivors. Participants will have the opportunity to personalize denim pockets with messages of empowerment, hope, and solidarity. Each decorated pocket will serve as a reminder of the importance of standing together against violence and supporting those affected.

Denim Day

For over 20 years, wearing jeans on Denim Day has been a symbol for supporting survivors, raising awareness, and protesting against destructive attitudes about sexual violence.
